The Royal Palace Sprint

One great thing in Stockholm is that there is always something going on – also outdoors. Yesterday it was time for the seventh FIS World Cup Sprint around the Royal Palace. Although the winter in Stockholm had been very snowy 4000 cubic meters of snow were produced at Hammarbybacken and had then been transported to and leveled around the Palace.

We took a little after-lunch-stroll to Gamla Stan and watched some of the women’s quarter finals. It must be a great experience for the athletes to run in such unique surroundings. The view on the city and the waterfront is just fantastic, but I am afraid that they don’t really have time to take a look around. /Sandra

Stockholm the 1st

Stockholm!

Stockholm – The Capital of Scandinavia, the European Green Capital, the City of Love 2010, and – most important – the hometown of the Mandel head office!

There was no doubt that Stockholm should be one of the topics in our Mandel corporate blog when we met last week to discuss the structure and the updating of this blog. After having picked quite a number of categories we wanted to write about we appointed a person responsible for each of them.

I got Stockholm.
Well, maybe I have to put it differently. I tried to secretly write my name behind “Stockholm”. And was caught. Then I grabbed the plate with a whole pile of Kanelbullar and threatened to eat them all if I someone else got this category. And that is exactly where the fun ends for a Mandel: when Kanelbullar are involved!
I got Stockholm!

A Wonderful City

Stockholm is a wonderful city because it’s more than just that. It’s city, it’s water and it’s green. The city of Stockholm is exceptionally rich in contrasts. It’s at the same time atmospheric & medieval and vibrant & stylish. Since 1250 Stockholm has grown on 14 islands and the water is always close when you walk through the city. And so are parks and recreation areas.

I think Stockholm is one of the best places to live. And I, or rather we (because actually everyone is responsible for filling this blog with content!) will from now on tell you about places and events in Stockholm to let you see why we like it so much and to arouse your curiosity for this beautiful city like no other! /Sandra
