Run the Mont-Blanc-Trailtour – without moving!

Hej Outdoorfans! Do you want to run the Mont-Blanc-Race whenever you want? Virtually that’s possible now.

Polartec, the leading manufacturer of performance fabrics, has partnered with The North Face®, to launch the The North Face® Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc® Giveaway, a Facebook application based on the infamous 166km trail running race around Mont Blanc, starting on August 22, 2011.

The application leads users on a virtual trail run through five of the most famous stops on the race. Starting in Chamonix, France, the app highlights some of the most picturesque and challenging sections of the route, asking virtual runners race-related quiz questions on the way to the finish.

New Facebook guidelines ease promotions

Facebook has changed prior restrictions concerning sweespstakes. That’s especially interesting for countries as Sweden or India, where promotions were prohibited before. From now on companies have to decide on their own, whether their promotions are legal and don’t violate any local, state or other laws.

One of the most famous tourist attractions in Stockholm is the Vasa Museum. This year Sweden celebrates a jubilee – the war ship was salvaged 50 years ago from the ground of the Baltic Sea.

Warm weather and sunshine…sounds like the Easter weekend will be perfect! We hope that you find the time to lay back and enjoy the time with your family and friends. Is there a specific tradition in your family how to spend the Easter holiday? We would love to hear!

In Sweden there is a quite similar way of celebrating Easter like in Germany, but still there are some differences.  For example the tradition of  Påskkärring. On Maundy Thursday kids get dressed up as Easter witches and go round from house to house presenting the neighbourhood with drawings, hoping to get some sweets in return.

The traditional Swedish Easter meal consists of different varieties of cured salmon, pickled herring and Jansson’s Temptation. At dinner roast lamb is served with potatoes. As in Germany children love to search for easter eggs and sweets on Easter Sunday.

Museum, theatres, galleries and various other cultural organizations will hold evening hours to offer a diversified and enjoyable program for the visitors. Ingmar Bergman new motif on Swedish banknote

The famous children books’ author Astrid Lindgren will appear on the new 20-kronor note. There has been a vivid discussion on whether to put her on the newly introduced 200-kronor note, but the Swedish government decided that famous film director Ingmar Bergman was to have this honour.

100 days left until OutDoor Friedrichshafen

Only three more months! Then the world’s leading outdoor trade fair OutDoor in Friedrichshafen takes place. In the region where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet, OutDoor is once again shaping up to be a success. To date 748 exhibitors from 39 countries have registered and even more are expected until July.
